The following is our Guitar Shop COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. Although this plan may have changes and updates, this is the basic idea on how to move forward in a safe way. The health and safety of our teachers, staff and especially YOU the student are as important to us as our own family's health! Together we CAN do this!
COVID-19 PREPAREDNESS PLAN
The Guitar Shop in Rosemount is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all our instructors and students. To ensure that, we have developed the following COVID-19 Preparedness Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Owners and teachers are all responsible for implementing this plan. Our goal is to mitigate the potential for transmission of COVID-19 in our workplaces and communities, and that requires full cooperation among our teachers, owners and students. Only through this cooperative effort can we establish and maintain the safety and health of our workplaces.
Owners and teachers are responsible for implementing and complying with all aspects of this COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. Our owners and teachers have our full support in enforcing the provisions of this policy.
Our instructors are our most important assets. We are serious about safety and health and keeping our instructors working at The Guitar Shop in Rosemount. Instructor involvement is essential in developing and implementing a successful COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. We have involved our instructors in this process by speaking to instructors, and addressing any concerns they may have.
Our COVID-19 Preparedness Plan follows Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) guidelines, federal OSHA standards related to COVID-19 and Executive Order 20-48, and addresses:
Hygiene and respiratory etiquette
Masks/shields/space controls for social distancing
Housekeeping, including cleaning & disinfecting
Prompt identification and isolation of sick persons
Communications and training that will be provided to owners and instructors.
Management and supervision necessary to ensure effective implementation of the plan
SCREENING AND POLICIES FOR EMPLOYEES EXHIBITING SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19
Workers have been informed of and encouraged to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. The following policies and procedures are being implemented to assess their health status prior to entering the workplace and for workers to report when they are sick or experiencing symptoms.
Instructors will have their temps checked daily before work. An instructor with a temp above 100 degrees will be sent home. Instructors will also be screened for any of the other COVID symptoms. Instructors are required to communicate to administration if they are feeling ill, or feel they may need to leave work early or stay home. If an instructor does leave work, students will be notified and an online lesson will be offered in its place.
The Guitar Shop in Rosemount has implemented leave policies that promote workers staying at home when they are sick, when household members are sick, or when required by a health care provider to isolate or quarantine themselves or a member of their household. Instructors will have the opportunities to offer online lessons while on leave. Basic infection prevention measures are being implemented at our workplaces at all times. Workers are instructed to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water frequently throughout the day, but especially at the beginning and end of their shift, prior to any mealtimes and after using the toilet. All visitors to the facility will be required to use the hand-sanitizer in the dispensers throughout the store for hand hygiene upon entering., as long as hands are not visibly soiled, then we ask hands be washed with soap and water in the bathroom.
Bathrooms will have adequate soap and paper towels available. Teachers are to wash hands at the beginning of their workday, and wash as necessary throughout the day. Students will use hand sanitizer or wash hands before lessons, and sanitizer will be available near lesson rooms for immediately after lessons.
RESPIRATORY ETIQUETTE: COVER YOUR COUGH OR SNEEZE
Workers and visitors are being instructed to cover their mouth and nose with their sleeve or a tissue when coughing or sneezing and to avoid touching their face, in particular their mouth, nose and eyes, with their hands. They should dispose of tissues in the trash and wash or sanitize their hands immediately afterward. Respiratory etiquette will be demonstrated on posters and supported by making tissues and trash receptacles available to all workers and visitors. Parents and teachers will help educate younger students on this technique.
Social distancing is being implemented in the workplace through the following engineering and administrative controls:
Online lessons are available for those teachers and students interested. We have updated teachers schedules to offer specific days for online and in person lessons. Rooms allow for the recommended 6 feet of social distance. Instructors will have access to non-medical cloth face coverings, gloves, and disinfectant. Masks should be worn at all times in the store and during lessons, regardless of social distance. Gloves should be worn when cleaning high touch surfaces. The front desk will adhere to the 6 feet required social distance as well and we have a plexi shield. Parents are asked to drop students off and remain in cars, run some errands, or even enjoy some fresh air on our property. Students will head back to their rides after lessons.
Instructors, students, and customers are prohibited from gathering in groups. Instructors and students are prohibited from gathering in confined areas and from using other workers’ personal protective equipment, phones, computer equipment, desks, cubicles, workstations, offices or other personal work tools and equipment.
